Warning and Information Systems (WIS)

We design and implement software solutions for avalanche warning purposes. These include data acquisition and analysis programmes to assist avalanche forecasting, and programmes used in the production and publication of the avalanche bulletin. We also develop information systems for the authorities responsible for natural hazards and for the general public. Among these systems are the White Risk smartphone app and GIN, the Common Natural Hazard Information Platform. The GIN platform enables safety authorities and local avalanche services to retrieve directly from the internet the data collected by the automatic measuring stations as well as other information on the current avalanche, weather, flood and earthquake situation in Switzerland.
