MASSIMO is a distance-independent individual-tree simulator that represents demographic processes (regeneration, growth and mortality) with empirical models that have been parameterized with data from the Swiss NFI. Tree regeneration, growth and mortality are simulated on the regular grid of sample plots of the Swiss NFI, which allows for statistically representative simulations of forest development.
